With its origins in lock manufacturing, the Yale and Towne Manufacturing Co. branched off into materials handling in 1875. However it wasn’t until 1920 that the company launched a battery powered low-lift platform truck, followed by tow tractors, high-lift platform trucks, and a lifting truck with tilting forks. The company continued to grow internationally, and was purchased by the North American Coal Corporation (NACCO) in 1985.
