Ursus has been building tractors since 1922. A joint initiative by the Polish and Czechoslovakian governments to produce 120,000 tractors per year in 1961 failed to reach desired targets, with only 15,000 produced in 1963. In the 1970’s Ursus entered into a design licensing agreement with Massey Ferguson. Huge debt saw the company struggle throughout the 90’s, and after debts were written off and the company restructured, it is now 100% owned by Polish holding company Pol-Mot.
