In 1934, after growing rapidly during World War I as a rifle manufacturer, Steyr-Werke AG merged with Austro-Daimler-Puch to become Steyr-Daimler-Puch. Over the course of the next few decades they manufactured a wide range of vehicles such as cars, trucks, buses, tractors, motorcycles and scooters. From 1987 Steyr-Daimler-Puch began breaking divisions off into separate companyies, or selling them altogether. Steyr Tractor was sold to Case in 1996.
