John Deere - Balers
Blacksmith John Deere hit the big time in 1937 with his cast-steel plough design, allowing farmers in the American mid-west to plough the land without sticking in the mud or needing regular cleaning, as happened with wooden and iron ploughs. Since this development John Deere has gone on to become the largest agriculture machinery company in the world, employing 67,000 people worldwide. Its agricultural products include tractors, harvesters, balers and planters, and are recognisable by the famous green and yellow colours.
