Initially manufacturers of steam locomotives, tractors, trucks and military vehicles in Germany, Hanomag added cars to their product portfolio in the mid-1920’s, and construction machinery in 1931. The company’s first diesel engine tractor was built in 1928, and was potentially the first of its kind, although this fact is in dispute. In 1964 Hanomag merged with Henschel-Werke to form Hanomag-Henschel, with the farm tractor division sold to Massey Ferguson, and the truck making division sold to Daimler-Benz a few years later. It is now owned 100% owned by Komatsu.
