Founded in 1894, Deutz merged with Fahr in 1961 to become Deutz-Fahr, later KHD (Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz). The German company expanded with the purchase of Allis-Chalmers, adding farm equipment to their product portfolio and changing the name to Deutz-Allis. Financial troubles meant the company sold their North American operations to what would become known as AGCO in 1990. Further sales ensued with KHD selling Deutz-Fahr to SAME Lamborghini-Hurlimann (SLH).
