Conveyancer Forklift

Conveyancer Fork Trucks Ltd, a Warrington hydraulic company, was purchased by Rubery Owen in the 1930’s, going on to produce what is claimed to be the UK’s first forklift truck in 1946. Coventry Climax, as part of the nationalised British Leyland Motor Corporation, took over in 1977, renaming the company Climax Conveyancer. After privatisation in 1982, then receivership in 1986, Cronin Tubular purchased the forklift business, before splitting the company in two and selling the forklift truck business to Kalmar Industries.
