CHAMBERLAIN - Industrial
Founder Bob Chamberlain was a tractor mechanic, but thought he could design a tractor himself that farmers really wanted. The Western Australian government liked what they saw and convinced Chamberlain to utilise an ex-munitions factory in Welshpool. The first model, the 40k, rolled off the floor in 1949 and was considered perfect for Australian conditions. Further models were produced, namely the 60DA, 70DA and 55DA, before John Deere purchased a controlling interest in 1970, then taking full control in the 80’s.
