Morris Garages (MG), a Morris dealer in England, started producing the earliest model MG’s using customised Morris bodies in the early 1920’s. The company concentrated its efforts on producing predominantly two-seater sports cars, but after various incarnations of Morris Motors and MG, which included The Austin Motor Company and Jaguar, production stopped for the first time in 1980. After the British Motor Corporation built several models in the 1980’s, BMW revived the brand with the MG F two-seater roadster in 1995. However, in 2000 BMW split up their brands and MG (and Rover) were sold to the Rover Group, who built the MG ZT and a revised MG F model. MG Rover is now owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.
