After being passed through many hands since formation as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, including British Motor Holdings, Leyland Motor Corporation and Ford, Jaguar is now owned by Tata Motors under the parent company name Jaguar Land Rover. Jaguar has been known throughout its history for producing quality sports cars with a certain British style, making its name with the XK Series and E-Type models in the 1950’s and 1960’s. In recent times Jaguar has manufactured cars for the British Prime Minister, and has Royal Warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. The famous chrome-plated jaguar on the hood, known as ‘The Leaper’, has controversially been removed from the latest cars after being banned for safety reasons in Europe.
