Prior to the birth of Ferrari in 1929, founder Enzo Ferrari made cars for Alfa Romeo after being rejected for employment by Fiat. Ferrari is synonymous with speed, sex appeal and red (the racing colour of Italy), with a deep history in Formula 1 where it has enjoyed enormous success. In 1969 Fiat purchased a 50% stake, which has since grown to 90%, and produced such classics as the F40, the Dino and Testarossa. Ferrari has sold 130,000 cars in its history, but now also sells products such as colognes and perfumes, stationery, and fashion items such as sunglasses, clothes and watches.
