Bentley began life in 1919, releasing its first car, the EXP 1, in London in the same year. However, in 1931 Rolls-Royce bought the company for £125,275 and has grown into a company of over 4,000 staff in 58 countries. Operating profit for 2012 was €100.5 million from less than 9,000 cars produced, and held a 25% market share of all cars sold for more than €150,000. The Bentley is tantamount with the ideals of acute luxury and impeccable standards of design and finish, and in Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, the title character drove Bentley’s, not Aston Martins.
