Established in 1913, Aston Martin didn’t really become known as a prominent luxury car manufacturer until the 1950’s due in part to both World Wars stalling progress. The Aston Martin DB5 became James Bond’s ride in the 1960’s Goldfinger and Thunderball movies, while recently Daniel Craig drove both the DB5 and DBS in Casino Royale. Economic hardship followed in the 1970’s, including bankruptcy, forcing changes in ownership. In 1994 the Ford Motor Company took over, however after posting losses of £12 billion sold its share in 2006. Now back in British hands, and despite selling only 20,000 cars in its 90-year history, nothing quite says class like an Aston Martin.
